nacctstats Overview
What is it? Why did I write it?
Ever wanted to find out how much traffic you are having? Well, I did and so I tried several programs. I tried ippl, but this program had the tendency to crash. It left several zombie processes a day, this was unacceptable for my router.
Then I tried the net accounting daemon, net-acct. This program is just fine, it suited my needs, it did not drop packages, it did not crash, it utilizes the cpu not to much (compared to ippl). The only shortcoming of this program is that the created logfiles are huge and not useful for human consumption. That is why I wrote a perl script for evaluating the logfiles.

My script is far from perfect. But it does its job quite well. Please send patches and suggested features to me. For downloads and examples, please use the navigation bar on top of the page.Similar Projects
